Providing Health & Wellbeing Solutions

Communities for Children, Amity Health

About Communities for Children

Communities for Children is funded by the Australian Government: it aims to support early intervention and prevention programs designed to bring about positive outcomes for children aged between 0-12 years and their families.

Our Team

Amity Health’s team is passionate about helping rural, remote and isolated families and thier children. Our role is to provide funding and support to local community partners to deliver programs and activities so families can be healthy, feel supported and connected to their communities. Programs and activities are located in various community based settings. Programs are delivered to reflect the needs of individual communities across the region.

Some of our community partners are:

  • Palmerston
  • YMCA
  • Wanslea Family Services
  • Rainbow Coast Neighbourhood Centre
  • Community Resource Centres

We describe many of our partnerships as 'Hubs'

‘Hubs’ are local centres, some are based at schools or community centres, which run family programs. Each Hub delivers different programs to reflect the unique needs of their community.

We support programs that...

  • increase social involvement and help to make the community feel more connected
  • provide positive experiences and developmental activities for children
  • provide information to assist families to connect with other programs and services in the region

Some of our programs...

Some of our programs include supported playgroups, kindy readiness activities, school holiday programs, family support and other programs relevant to local community needs.
